About 40 minutes away from Santa Barbara is a town surrounded by lots of hills and grapevines, Santa Ynez. It is a cute vintage-looking town that transports you back to the 1880s, full of history, good food, and delicious wine.
Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Larry Grassini found a love for gardening, which soon extended to planting an entire vineyard on 104-acres of land in the 90s, right when the wine industry was starting to bloom in the area!
This vineyard has several venue options to choose from, each with a different view and vibe with the scenery. The Lakeside Vista sits underneath beautiful 400-year old oak trees with a view of the lake and hills full of vines. The Barn is another venue option, along with The Bridge, Block 14, and indoor venue called The Foyer. Regardless of the venue chosen, each has immense attention to detail to create the absolute perfect backdrop to a rustic Italian wedding. Additionally, there is The Apartment, a bridal suite with 10 ft. tall windows, a fireplace and vaulted ceilings.
With a love for wine, this lovely couple realized they weren’t experiencing their full passion unless they were planting and harvesting grape vines to then make wine. They fulfilled their goal of selling grapes to notable winemakers, and wine making followed easily.

Sogno del Fiore hosts a good number of weddings every year on their 3-acre estate vineyard that includes a saltwater pool, olive tree grove, rose gardens, a couple of fire pits, bocce court, dance floor, and string lights. It is the perfect place to have a romantic and intimate wedding, especially with the amazing vineyard in the background. Two bungalows are included with the venue rental, perfect for dressing rooms during the day and to rest at ease at night after having a gorgeous wedding.
The oldest, organically grown vineyard in Santa Barbara County is known as Sunstone Vineyards & Winery. One of the most magical aspects of this vineyard is the Villa, built to be the private home of the owners Linda and Fred and their family. The amazing part of this villa is the history of its architecture. On a trip to France, Linda and Fred found architectural ruins such as a fireplace from the Bordeaux reign in France, a thousand year old limestone sink, huge hand-hewn pine beams from Queen Victoria’s lavender factory. It is incredible the amount of history in these pieces of architecture that are now a part of The Villa.
It is in this dream Villa where you can have your wedding, surrounded by the Sunstone vineyards and Santa Ynez mountains. It contains five suites, dressing rooms for the bride and groom, and overnight accommodations are available. The Tuscan inspired villa, touches of greenery that climb against the outside walls, the vineyard, mountains, and ocean view: that is what makes it one of the most desired wedding locations in California.
Fritz Brander, grandfather of vineyard owner Fred, was a businessman who unintentionally passed down the business to his son, Erik. He was a very talented artist and found his passion for wine when he bought a piece of land and decided to plant grape vines in 1975. From then on, Erik and Fred, who is now the owner of The Brander Vineyard, have built an empire and created world-class Sauvignon Blanc wines in various styles.
Sitting on 52-acres, The Brander Vineyard hosts weddings several times each year. The space is perfect for a small more intimate wedding of about 100 guests and gives a nice almost picnic feel to the scenery. The vineyards tie it all together to provide a romantic, wine-country setting for your wedding.
Dan Gainey is the owner of Gainey Vineyard and has been actively caring for the vineyard and ranch since 1985. His grandfather initially bought the land to plant vegetable and fruits to sustain the family. Once he passed, the family continued his legacy by planting grapevines and establishing a winery.
There are several venues available on the property, one of them being the vineyard. At the Gainey Vineyard, you will be surrounded by nature all around. There is plenty of shade under live oaks, with hills and grapevines surrounding the venue. It is pure tranquility for you to enjoy your special day amongst the beautiful views and sounds of nature.
The Lieff Ranch has more of an old west feel to it, but you are surrounded by vineyards, giving you the best of both worlds. A 100-year old barn sits on the property, the perfect indoor venue for an elegant western wedding. There is a lot of space on Lieff Ranch with plenty of room for every aspect of the wedding. Since the venue spaces are fairly big, there is a nice openness to the area, and you won’t feel limited to the amount of space when it comes to designing your dream wedding.

The Brave & Maiden vineyards were first planted in the mid-90s, but it wasn’t until 2011 that friends Rizal Risjad and Jason Djang began to make estate-grown wine. Their venue is perfect for a small and intimate wedding of about 80 guests. There are a few different venues on the property, and they are partnered with Hospitality Collaborative, a full event catering and design company that will guide you every step of the way to create your dream vineyard wedding.
Take a 15 minute drive northwest from Santa Ynez and you will find Los Olivos, a very small town with Victorian-style homes and businesses. You will find many restaurants, gift shops, and tasting rooms for beer and wine. Overall, Los Olivos is a laid-back town surrounded by vineyards, orchards, lavender farms, ranches and horse trails.
In 1972, five friends teamed up to buy a property on which they established Zaca Mesa Winery & Vineyards, the third winery established in Santa Barbara County. After many experimentations came lots of successes for the five friends, including the creation of a wine that became the wine of choice for the White House in 1996.
The setting at Zaca Mesa is rustic, elegant, and serene with the San Rafael Mountains, old oak trees and the vineyards as the beautiful backdrop. The View Room is spacious with 9-foot tall glass windows and the perfect area for dining or dancing. Overall, the venue hosts up to 200 people for a secluded yet spacious vineyard wedding.
Established 50 years ago, the first estate winery in Santa Barbara County is still standing and has no intentions of closing anytime soon. Harvey Firestone and his wife Kate, along with their sons, established themselves at a ranch in Santa Ynez in the 1970s. They started off planting a vineyard to sell the grapes to North Coast wineries, but soon after decided that this could be an amazing adventure and opportunity for the family.
Firestone Vineyard has different event settings, including a courtyard, colorful garden and a lavender-accented terrace. Ceremony in the vineyard, dinner in the barrel room and reception in the courtyard: it cannot get better than this! It is said that in the valley where Firestone Vineyard resides, the hills seem to glow at sunset. What a beautiful way to close out your wedding day.
Wine Trail Weddings is another venue that offers both vineyard and country aesthetic. It is a private estate wish a large green landscape that includes a waterfall and creek that runs through the property! It is a very charming venue and because it is a ranch, you get a comforting ‘homey’ feel to it. It is everything you want in a vineyard country style wedding.
